Saad & Helen Ullah
Saad “Victor” Ullah left his ship in Baltimore in the early 1940s and made his way with a shipmate to New York City. Saad settled in Spanish Harlem and found work in a garment factory downtown. He met Helen’s mother and older sister riding the subway to work in the mornings, and when he was invited over for dinner one evening, met Helen. He proposed not long after and the two had a long life together in Harlem, Long Island, and eventually Florida, before Saad passed away in 2003.
